Imagine a building that doesn't burn--even though it is located in one of the worst wildfire areas of California. Now, imagine the same building, suffering virtually no damage from a maximum credible earthquake in one of the most extreme seismic zones in the world. While contemplating the first two points, go a step further, and imagine that this building is also sustainable--lasting hundreds of years and requiring little or no energy to heat or cool it. ISI will be presenting it's sustainable systems and designs at the annual Unified Wine and Grape Symposium in Sacramento January 28th and 29th and at the Green California Summit and Exposition in Sacramento March 16th and 18th. We hope to see you there.
Straw Bale Patent
This past October ISI's Spar Membrane Structure, which takes advantage of night cooling by the thermal mass of its concrete membranes surrounding an insulating core, recieved two United States patents. One for its unique ventilation system to control moisture and the other for the methods of bracing and constructing the wall itself.
Fire Proof Construction
Most fires which start in buildings escape through the roof, and most fires which enter buildings, enter through the roof. ISI is pleased to announce the development of the H.I.P. roof system to add the possibilty of an infinitely fire resistant roof to augment the superior fire resistance of the SMS wall system. Read more about it here.
